Ellen is the Prop Master for a New York production of “Coquero,” a play based on the life of Sigmund Freud and his cocaine addiction. Ellen’s son, Danny, is a recovering addict and arrives in town, unannounced, at his mother’s theatre. It is not long before Danny needs a fix and is willing to go to any lengths to find heroin in the city, even if it means destroying his mother’s career. This play-within-a-play uncovers the parallels between addiction, the Oedipal complex, and the newly discovered subatomic, Higgs boson ‘God’ particle through the lens of relationships, withdrawals, and the desperation of human nature.see less
